Proper Youth Leadership to build a Sustainable Climate Action

Many countries in Africa continue to get warmer at an alarming rate, putting almost every child at risk of more frequent and destructive climate hazards such as air pollution, cyclones, diseases, flooding, heat waves, and water scarcity. As these hazards continue to intensify, more children will be harmed; more will die.
With the growing population of the Youth, we can build a sustainable climate action by taking part in activities geared towards climate restoration.
Did you know over 1 billion children are at extremely high risk of severe and destructive climate hazards?
This session will focus on how to grow responsible and empowered young leaders. Given the right opportunities, youth can be effective drivers of change. Youths need proper training to take care of human activities, such as waste management, the use of fossil fuels, deforestation, and unsustainable agriculture that contributes to climate change, hence decreasing the availability of nutritious food and clean water, and destroying ecosystems and secure living environments.
A destructive climate would lead to malnutrition, ill health, and migration, rendering youth particularly vulnerable. At the same time, youth constitute a majority of the population in Africa and have an increasingly strong social and environmental awareness, which has the power to transform our societies with low-carbon and climate-resilient futures, thus achieving a green economy.
